To get closer to our dreams…
we all start somewhere.

Every dream begins somewhere small.

Palmér’s began under the flickering lights of a pasar malam.

In the 1990s, our factory founders Alice and Robin T. handmade tilam kapas from scratch. They beat big bales of compressed cotton with a cane, loosening them into fluffy white clouds for stuffing. Alice, a skilled seamstress, would stitch and quilt every cover using a long mattress needle. They sold their neat mattresses on a folded table in the night markets of Kepong.

The days were long — their nights even longer — but there was a quiet belief that their effort would eventually lead somewhere.

Then came a moment of alarm. A friend in the same trade fell ill with a lung problem. The X-ray showed his whitish lungs, covered with tiny cotton fibres after years of inhaling them.

That’s when they knew they had to evolve for long-term survival.

Alice and Robin turned to the most modern material of the time — rebonded foam, popular in home furniture. Working from a rented old house, they shredded foam scraps, made adhesive, and pressed them together to create dense blocks of sponge.

In time, they saved enough to rent a small factory in Sungai Buloh. They hired new help, bought new materials, and grew alongside a Malaysia that was still learning to modernise.

One night, a short circuit triggered a huge fire that consumed every single thing they have built.

The memory of that fire no longer burns today, but back then, it meant a total, devastating loss. The kind of loss that threatens not just your livelihood, but your entire faith in why you started in the first place.

For them, starting over was not really a 'choice' — it was the only real way forward. Eventually, Alice and Robin began anew.

Three decades later, Palmér stands in its own factory in Sungai Buloh. Now, it is a legacy that extends far beyond two pairs of hands.

The result of years and years of practice is inevitable mastery. Palmér is shaped by people who began with nothing but raw skill, patience, and a strong will. You’ll feel that mastery in every one of our mattresses.

Because every Palmér only has a single pursuit — to bring you closer to yours.

From one dreamer to another,
Palmér.
